The Ten Most Prophetic Sci-Fi Films

American discourse has now reached the point in which even Popular Mechanics is publishing lists. It's not a terrible list by any means, since it does include the all-time classic The Running Man, featuring assorted governors and comedy POWs. But where's Idiocracy? Where's Rollerball? Where's 1984? Really, isn't everybody becoming stupider while corporations get more powerful and governments tell increasingly bigger lies?

Moreover, none of those movies star Ethan Hawke.

Given how pally we're all being about robots these days, despite all warnings to the contrary, I'm amazed no one had the good sense to make this article one big warning.

Fools.

Christ, I forgot about Terminator. I guess 2001 has similar themes, or so I've read since I couldn't stay awake for the whole thing.

Yeah, when Roombas begin their wild killing rampage people will be crying out "if only I had heeded the words of Sarah Connor!"

C'mon. Roombas can't even deal with stairs. We want robots who embrace stairs.

I guess the Popular Mechanics translation tool will tell me that "prophetic" equates to the English word "crappy"
